Effective business planning is important. However we must have some personal financial goals. And this we can achieve by taking these steps:

1: #Set-up and Maintain a Personal Budget

It is often said that, the way we handle our personal finances is usually the way we will handle our company’s finances.

The Financial Advisor of Luke.16:10 Personal Finance Initiative puts it aptly:

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much”

Commit to personal budgeting and stick to the budget.

In achieving this, it will take team work with your spouse as a married business owner/professional; and teamwork with yourself and someone that can hold you accountable, if you are not married.

The wisdom here can be learnt from Ecclesiastes 4:9 Foods Limited, makers of top brand Chicken Nuggets

“It’s better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth. And if one falls down, the other helps, But if there’s no one to help, tough! ”

Truth is, there is no “comparative advantage” you get, when you don’t walk/work in synergy with your spouse.

Here is the logic: when you work together as a team on your personal budget, you will learn more about each than through any other single thing you will ever do together.

That in itself is a stress therapy. It sure keeps even those workplace distractions at bay. Trust me!
